sole definition

most of the time when i tell someone the name of my business they ask me why i would choose a name that has to do with a foot or a shoe.  now, i did realize that this question would come up and i do think that feet are very important but sadly, feet and shoes have nothing to do with “solesnaps”.  i for some reason today felt inspired to clear up this common misinterpretation so here it is, the definition of my vision.  i think it simply explains why i love what i do.  we are each our own gem with sole brilliance, only ours, no one else’s.  i often find myself randomly staring at people admiring all of their beauty.  i am realizing, this is my gift.

birthday inspiration…

todays post is inspired by my friend heather and me just realizing it is her birthday.  we are new at being friends with each other in this lifetime but i kinda feel like i have always known her.  this happens a lot since moving to bellingham.  i feel that many of the people i have met here i have known forever. heather is one of these people.  braiden and i have recently talked about how we had never lived here before but it is seems we already have roots here.  there are many friends i have met here that have given me light without even knowing it.  they help to give me energy and inspiration in my everyday life and they show me how to be brave and how to follow my fears.  i feel this from people everywhere i go, even around people i have never spoken to.  i feel like i am constantly being slapped in the face with awesomeness!  so thank you heather and happy birthday.  i see that the sun is shinning which i think is what you said you wanted…

Auction Week…

It is official and I have decided that the week before the auction is one of my favorite times.  I am truly amazed by all of the inspired and talented people I am surrounded by.

Every year sometime in March the items start rolling into the office.  A whole bunch of things are donated by various businesses and such, BUT! my favorite are the ones that are made by people.  The ones that seem to be made with the biggest love and the very best intention.  These includes the ones that the kids themselves have a hand in making.  Each class is asked do a project that somehow involves the kids and something they are learning in that grade.  I am literally blown away by what happens with these projects.

In the second grade a few things they learn are cursive and telling time.  In fact the other day we were at my grammy”s house and Veda said that she could tell time but not on those “one kinda clocks” that are a funny shape like the one on the stove but she can tell time on the other kind.  I am so proud!  Anyway!  The obvious donation to the auction for our second graders was a wall clock.  One parent did a simple water color representing the seasons for the background of the clock.  There are exactly 12 kids in the class (each one apparently has their own secret number) so they each made a number to be used on the clock.  Then another crazy talented parent assembled and built the clock.  It was the first thing I saw when I walked into the office this morning.  It is beautiful.  I have the intention to take photos of a few of these pieces of art once they are purchased.  Don’t worry, I will share!

BTW  the photo below is of the center pieces i should be finishing right now!

P.S.  Veda keeps asking me why kids can’t go to the option…
